Valley Thunder Homeschool Sports is planning for soccer in 2024. We want to determine the interest levels to decide on which teams to offer. Therefore, we are opening “registration.” This is open to ages 6 and up for both boys and girls. We’ll use the interest to determine whether to offer high school, middle school, and/or developmental teams. Interest will also determine whether we offer girls-only, boys-only, and/or co-ed in Spring and/or Fall. 

Homeschool teams, and many private schools, across Virginia usually offer girls teams in the Spring and boys teams in the late Summer/Fall. However, there are a few private schools that have co-ed. Thus, we have some flexibility. If we can have a developmental program, it’s most likely to occur in the Spring or Summer. Interest level will also impact the registration cost. 

As a really rough estimate, assume a registration range of $75 to $125 for developmental and $125 to $250 for middle school or high school. Middle and/or high school team practices would plan to begin in March. The game schedule will consist of other homeschool teams and private schools with 1 to 2 games per week. We plan for practices to be held somewhere between Winchester, VA and Martinsburg, WV depending on where the majority of interest is and field availability. Once we have made a determination on teams, we’ll send out a formal registration for the actual teams.
