Registration is NOW OPEN for our 2023/2024 Basketball season! Valley Thunder Homeschool Sports is taking registrations for its middle school girls, middle school boys, junior varsity boys, and JV/varsity girls basketball teams. Practices begin at the end of September and the season continues through the first week of March. We practice twice each week until games begin and then usually practice once each week thereafter. Once games begin, teams usually play two days each week with an occasional week or two that includes a third day.
To play on the middle school teams, a player must be at least 10 on August 1, 2023 and cannot be older than 14 as of June 1, 2024. To play on the junior varsity boys team, a player cannot be older than 17 as of June 1, 2024. To play on the JV/V girls team, a player cannot be older than 18 as of August 1, 2023 and cannot hold a diploma or GED prior to the start of the season.
The fee for basketball this season is $350 contingent upon raising additional funds to reduce costs through fundraising. Upon registration, you will receive an invoice for a $125 deposit. The deposit is due September 15. You will then receive invoices each month that are due on the 15th of each month beginning in October for $75. Thus, the remaining $225 will be due in three $75 installments concluding on December 15, 2023. You don’t have to wait on the installment plan if you would rather pay the total registration at once or in less installments.
We also want to be clear that we never want cost to be an obstacle for kids to play. If you feel the registration fee may be prohibitive for your child to participate, please contact one of our Board members. We can discuss alternatives and we also have some donors that want to make sure we can help those that need assistance.
